Question 1 Some of the ways that lead to the war were all the different revenue acts being passed England was taxing everything they could. The Colonies felt that England had no right to pass laws when the Colonies didn’t even have a voice in the government. The Colonies had no one representing them in the government, but England felt that the Colonies were only there because they allowed them to be; so why should the Colonies have representation in their government? Because of the seven-year war, England felt the colonies were only there to pay back their debt, hence all the taxing. The colonies were rebelling and during the growing rift the die was cast; the Boston Tea Party began. The British soldiers and officials justified this as the time to initiate war. The Americans had their reasons for declaring war, and when the intolerable acts arrived in May 1774, there was an urge by Boston to ban the trade, this was the time that America decided to go to war because they did not want to be taxed. Americans had created the Parliament by 1774 and decided that they were not going to be pushed around by the royal authority. The Americans were defiant of English policies and laws, and failure by England to relinquish they were to declare war, The Tea Act seemed to be the last straw for the Colonies. They were already smuggling tea in from the Dutch, and the act made their efforts pointless because the smuggled tea became more expensive.
